is
committed to playground safety.
's
goals, when working with public agencies, are to help administrators
and maintenance crews design, purchase and install the safest playground
equipment to meet the children’s needs. Often times, we work with
playground equipment vendors to insure that the best price possible
is achieved. For instance, was
able to work with one playground equipment vendor and offer a 46% discount
to Santa Fe Public Schools, NM.
can
evaluate your playgrounds, develop a plan to make them safer, make any
repairs that are needed, and help you acquire funding to build new playgrounds.
When your playgrounds meet or exceed national standards, we can provide
training for ongoing maintenance.
Playground
Safety Audits:
,
LLC can conduct an inventory and audit of the playground equipment at
your agencies’sites. ASTM/CPSC requirements that would require the
disassembling or alternating of the equipment/footings (for example
Structural Integrity and Stability) are not tested. A team of National
Parks and Recreation Certified Playground Safety Inspectors will conduct
the audit. We will produce an inventory of the equipment and conduct an
audit of the equipment to determine compliance with the current version
of the American Society for Testing and Materials F1487 (ASTM), the
Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and the United States Consumer
Product Safety Commissions (CPSC) “Handbook for Public Playground
Safety” Publication Number 325.
With more
than 70% of accidents occurring with falls to surfacing, the importance
of proper surfacing cannot be overstated. These injuries occur on both
new and existing surfaces. We believe that a complete audit of a
playground should include a test of the surfacing material(s). For this
reason, ,
LLC has purchased, and many of our staff are trained on, an ASTM F1292
Standards Committee approved Free Fall Surface Testing System. This
testing system enables ,
LLC to examine your surfacing on-site to detect whether it complies with
the ASTM 1292. A point of clarification: The ASTM F1487 provides much
more detailed information on Fall Height measurements then the CPSC
document. ,
LLC uses the ASTM document to identify Fall
Heights unless otherwise instructed.
The ASTM 1292 Section 13.2.1 states that the auditor should “Carry
forth the impact tests at the drop height, as specified by the
owner/operator.” If you do not supply a drop height, ,
LLC will test the highest fall height from the highest piece of
equipment’s use zone per type of surfacing. |
